Mark Kogan, M.D.
Dr. Kogan received his undergraduate degree and MD degrees from Northwestern University as a member of the prestigious Honors Program in Medical Education, earning both degrees in a total of 6 years. After completing his Internal Medicine residency at Cornell University, he completed his Gastroenterology and Hepatology Fellowship at the University of Colorado Health Sciences Center in Denver, Colorado. Dr. Kogan is board certified in both Internal Medicine and Gastroenterology. He has been practicing in the Bay Area since 1987, and has been exhaustively involved in the medical community in numerous leadership roles. He has served as Chief of Staff at Doctors Medical Center and has also been President of the Alameda Contra Costa Medical Association. He has served as a Regional Medical Director for the Alta Bates Medical Group, as well as having served on the clinical practice committee for the American Gastroenterology Association. He is currently a member of the California delegation to the American Medical Association and has been elected as a Fellow of the American Gastroenterology Association. He also has teaching appointments at UCSF School of Medicine as Assistant Clinical Professor, as well as Touro Osteopathic Medical School as an Adjunct Associate Professor. He enjoys all aspects of consultative and therapeutic gastroenterology. Colon cancer screening and inflammatory bowel disease are areas of special interest to him. Having grown up in Chicago, he also enjoys spending time with his family enjoying the natural beauty of the Bay area, including hiking, skiing, and golfing. One thing he does not miss is the Chicago winters!
